Henry Neville (knight)

Sir Henry Neville of Heversham (* around 1437, † 1469 ) was an English knight .

Life

Sir Henry was the son of George Nevill, 1st Baron Latymer and Elizabeth, a daughter of Richard Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick . He was a first cousin of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick and the three York brothers Edward IV , George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence and Richard III.

Sir Henry fought for the House of York in the battles of Hedgeley Moor and Hexham during the Wars of the Roses in 1464 . When his cousin, the Earl of Warwick, rebelled against King Edward IV, Sir Henry also switched sides and fought on July 26, 1469 at the Battle of Edgecote Moor as one of the commanders under the leadership of Sir John Conyers.

Sir Henry was captured and executed that same day. He has his final resting place in the Beauchamp Chapel of St. Mary's Church in Warwick .
