Henry Robinson Palmer
Henry Robinson Palmer (* 1795 in Hackney ; † September 12, 1844 in Westminster ) was an English engineer who is best known for his invention of a suspended monorail, which he applied for a patent in 1821.
This horse-drawn train can be regarded as the predecessor of the Lartigue monorail and the Wuppertal suspension railway and is the first monorail in history.
On June 25, 1825, the first monorail for passenger transport opened in Cheshunt , England, although it was actually built for the transport of bricks. Palmer was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1831 .
