Henry Theodore Reinhold
Henry Theodore Reinhold (sometimes also called Thomas Reinhold ; * around 1690 probably in Dresden ; † May 14, 1751 in London ) was a German singer with a bass voice who worked in England.
Life
Reinhold's origins are in the dark. The assumption expressed in the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians that he was the son of the Dresden Kreuzkantor Theodor Christlieb Reinhold (1682–1755) would mean that his year of birth could hardly have been before 1700.
From around 1736 it can be proven in London, where it was often used by Georg Friedrich Handel . He took part in the premieres of Handel's last two operas, Imeneo (November 22, 1740) and Deidamia (January 10, 1741). Handel later gave him solo parts in the premieres of his oratorios Samson (February 18, 1743), Semele (February 10, 1744), Hercules (January 5, 1745), Belshazzar (March 27, 1745), Judas Maccabaeus (July 1, 1747) , Joshua (March 9, 1748), Alexander Balus (March 23, 1748), Susanna (February 10, 1749), Solomon (March 17, 1749) and Theodora (March 16, 1750).
His son Frederick Charles Reinhold (1741-1815) was also a classical singer.

Individual evidence
- ↑ The statement in the Dictionary of National Biography (1896) and other older English works that he had the reputation of being an illegitimate son of the "Archbishop of Dresden" is to be referred to the realm of legend, as there was none in the period in question Catholic diocese or archbishopric in Dresden.
