Theodor Christlieb Reinhold

Theodor Christlieb Reinhold (born September 13, 1682 in Eppendorf ; † March 24, 1755 in Dresden ) was a German composer and Dresden Kreuzkantor .

Life

Reinhold was a student at the Dresden Kreuzschule . As Kreuzkantor he succeeded Johann Zacharias Grundig in 1720 and held the office until his death. His own successor as cantor was Gottfried August Homilius in 1755 . Reinhold composed motets and the cantatas for the laying of the foundation stone and the inauguration of the Frauenkirche as well as the inauguration of the organ built in it by Gottfried Silbermann . In addition, Reinhold was music director of the three main Protestant churches in Dresden at the time, i.e. the Frauen-, the Sophien - and the Kreuzkirche . In this position he brought Bach's son Wilhelm Friedemann to the Sophienkirche as organist in 1733 . The composer and music writer Johann Adam Hiller is one of Reinhold's students .
