Johannes Selner

Johann (es) Selner (also: Johannes Sölner , * around 1525 in Neuburg (Pfalz) ; † November 1583 in Leubnitz ) was the second Kreuzkantor in Dresden from 1553 to 1560 .

In 1550, Selner went to Wittenberg to study theology , where he also worked as a cantor. In 1553, on the recommendation of Melanchthon , he was appointed to succeed Sebaldus Baumann as cantor of the Dresden Kreuzkirche . In 1560 he became pastor in Leubnitz, where he died in November 1583.

In 1557 Selner published five volumes with Latin motets .
