Kaspar Füger the Younger (* around 1562 in Dresden ; † July 27, 1617 there ) was a German composer and Kreuzkantor .

Life

Füger, son of Kaspar Füger the Elder , attended the Princely School in Meißen from 1575 and studied at the University of Leipzig from 1581 . In 1583 he moved to the University of Wittenberg, where in 1584 he acquired the academic degree of master's degree in philosophy. from 1585 to 1586 he was cantor at the Kreuzkirche and third teacher at the Kreuzschule in Dresden. Since he turned against the prevailing Calvinist tendencies as a Lutheran, he was dismissed. When these were expelled in 1591, he took over the position of vice principal of the Kreuzschule and around 1605 worked as a deacon at the Kreuzkirche.

Only one work by Füger has survived : the Christian Verß und Gesenge collection published by his father in 1580 , which consists of three polyphonic chants composed by his son.
