Samuel Rühling
Samuel Rühling (* around 1586 in Groitzsch ; † June 1626 in Dresden ) was a German Kreuzkantor and theologian.
Life
Rühling studied from 1601 to 1606 at the Princely School in Grimma . He then went to the University of Leipzig to study theology, among other things . Here he received his doctorate until 1610. He then became cantor at the Paulinerkirche University Church in Leipzig and was active as Kreuzkantor at the Kreuzkirche in Dresden from 1612 to 1615 . In September 1615 he became a deacon and five years later archdeacon of the Kreuzkirche.
Rühling's eight- and nine-part motets in polyphonic style have come down to us. He was also Poeta laureatus since the beginning of the 17th century .

- Six Christian high festival sermons, on Christmas Eve, Easter and Whitsun, held in the Creutzkirchen in Dresden, and given to many pious Christians for consolation in print (1628)
