Roderich Kreile (born December 17, 1956 in Munich ) is a Protestant church musician, choir director and university professor . As the 28th Evangelical Kreuzkantor , he has been leading the Dresden Kreuzchor since 1997 .

life and work

Kreile studied church music and choral conducting in Munich. In 1981 he took up the position of A-Cantor at the Christ Church in Munich. From 1989 to 1996 he taught choir conducting at the Musikhochschule Munich , where he was most recently a professor. His appointment as church music director followed in 1990, and in 1994 he also took over the rehearsal of the Munich Philharmonic Choir . In 2010 he was appointed a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts . He is deputy chairman of the New Bach Society and a member of the advisory board of the International Heinrich Schütz Society.

Under him, the Dresden Kreuzchor made numerous guest appearances at home and abroad. Under his leadership, tours have taken the choir through Germany and other European countries to the USA, South America, South Korea and Japan.

Honors

On June 2, 2012 he was awarded the Saxon Landtag President Matthias Roessler "for his impressive artistic work, which is always associated with high personal commitment and great success," the Saxon Constitutional Medal .

Trivia

In addition to the organ, Kreile also learned to play the trombone and was also the leader of a trombone choir . In an interview with Trombone Choir magazine , he said that he didn't listen to any music privately.
