Henry Walters

Henry Walters (born September 26, 1848 in Baltimore , † November 30, 1931 in New York ) was an American industrialist and museum founder.

Walters attended Georgetown University and Harvard University until 1872 and then worked for his father William Thompson Walters' railroad company . From 1894 he was president of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and moved its headquarters to New York .

After his father's death in 1894, he inherited his art collection, which he expanded through numerous purchases. In 1909 it became the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore , donated by Henry Walters .
