Henryk Edward Bałuszyński (born July 15, 1972 in Knurów ; † March 1, 2012 ) was a Polish football player and coach who played in the German Bundesliga for a long time and scored four goals in 15 international matches for his country .
Life
Bałuszyński's youth clubs were Górnik Knurów and Gwiazda Chudów . In Germany, after moving from his home country, he played for VfL Bochum , Arminia Bielefeld , LR Ahlen and SV Babelsberg 03 . The striker played a total of 56 Bundesliga games and scored six goals. In the second division he scored 18 goals in 89 appearances.
In the Bundesliga, Henryk Bałuszyński made his debut on December 4, 1994 in the 2: 3 defeat of his VfL Bochum against FC Schalke 04 , where he scored both Bochum goals. In total, he scored four goals in his first four games for VfL, which made him a bearer of hope. The fans of VfL Bochum will also remember him as the shooter of the first European cup in club history, which he scored on September 16, 1997 in a 2-1 draw against Trabzonspor .
In summer 2007 he returned to his youth club Gwiazda Chudów, where he was still active as a player until 2010 and worked as a coach until his death.
On March 1, 2012, Bałuszyński died of a heart attack at the age of 39.
