The locomotive KN V 126 is a four-axle diesel locomotive with rod drive that was built for the Kassel-Naumburg small railway .
The unique piece of this Henschel DH 1200 D series was designed for heavy shunting and medium-sized road service. The series belonged to the third generation of locomotives from Kassel .
development
The Kleinbahn Kassel-Naumburg needed powerful locomotives for its route profile. After dieselization in the freight train service had already been initiated with diesel locomotives from Deutz , the company was looking for suitable machines for other applications. The most powerful single-engine locomotive in the Henschel range was insufficient in terms of performance. The company developed a more powerful locomotive with an output of up to 1,200 hp especially for the Kassel-Naumburg small railway .
technology
The locomotive has a long front end for the machinery and a short one for the auxiliaries. The driver's cab is in between.
The water-cooled twelve-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine Daimler-Benz MB 820 Db was set to an output of 1,200 hp. The power transmission took place with a fluid transmission from Voith . Power was transmitted via a central jackshaft as well as drive and coupling rods.
commitment
The powerful locomotive came to the Kassel-Naumburg Kleinbahn in 1962 and to the Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn in 1978. It was shut down in 1993 and scrapped in Butzbach in 1995.
