Heppenbach is a village in the municipality of Amel in the German-speaking Community of Belgium . It has belonged to the municipality of Amel since the municipal merger in 1977 and has 262 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016). Together with the village of Halenfeld , which is immediately adjacent to the south and is only separated from Heppenbach by the Hepscheider Bach, Heppenbach forms a double village with over 500 inhabitants.

Heppenbach is four and a half kilometers northeast of the Amel core town, on the edge of the German - Belgian nature park Hohes Venn-Eifel . The state border runs southeast in a distance of nine kilometers. The areas west of Heppenbach are mainly used for agriculture; To the east of the village, beyond the district of Halenfeld, there are forests. One of the tourist attractions of the place is an educational forest trail.

Through the merger of municipalities in 1920, Heppenbach became the capital of the villages of Mirfeld , Möderscheid and Valender .
