geography

Medell is five kilometers south of the Ameler core town and seven kilometers northeast of the city of Sankt Vith . Meyerode follows immediately to the east of the village .

history

Medell, which means as much as “in the valley” (in the Dell), was probably built between the 10th and 14th centuries, just like the neighboring village of Meyerode. At that time, settlement areas in the vegetation-rich area were cleared. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1451. In 1525, Medell was one of the largest villages in the Amel court with ten fireplaces, while Born had only six and Amel only four. Medell was incorporated into the Amel community in 1977 as part of what was then Meyerode.
