Mirfeld is mentioned for the first time in 1552. The village received the first chapel in 1712, but this was renovated in 1901 and replaced by a new one in 1934. Mirfeld was incorporated into the Amel community in 1977 as part of the former Heppenbach community.
To the northeast of the village is the Mirfelderbusch , where a large annual cattle market has been held since the 16th century.
