Herb Wallerstein

Herbert Wallerstein (born November 28, 1925 in Brooklyn , New York City , † September 27, 1985 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles ) was an American film director and film producer .

He began his career in 1954 as an assistant director on the television series Father Is The Best . In the same role he also worked for the series Hazel and Katy . In the mid-1960s, Wallerstein worked as a producer on Bewitching Jeannie . At the same time he also gained a foothold as a director and directed several episodes of well-known television series such as Spaceship Enterprise , Cobra, Take Over , Smoking Colts and Quincy .

From 1978 to 1984 Wallerstein was a senior executive in the feature film production of 20th Century Fox . On September 29, 1985, his body was discovered in a burning car in Los Angeles. He had been killed by multiple blows to the head two days earlier. Wallerstein's housekeeper was charged with manslaughter and was eventually acquitted. According to her account, she acted in self-defense.
