The Herbert-Krause-Park is located in the Berlin district of Neukölln in the district of the same name . It is part of the High-Deck-Siedlung , a large housing estate with around 6,000 residents.
history
The training center of the Neukölln Nature Conservation and Green Space Office (NGA) is adjacent to the park . Its trainees planned the park, which opened in 2002, as part of a multi-year project. It is named after Herbert Krause , the former head of the office.
The central element of the park is the “Saale stone”. This is a natural stone weighing around 40 tons , on the surface of which the course of the Saale was carved. The stone is a gift from the Neukölln community partnership Hof . The district received the stone for the christening of the "Platz der Stadt Hof", which is located a few kilometers northwest on Karl-Marx-Straße .
The trainees planted ornamental apples , lilacs and forsythias on the site . The red and hornbeam , flower ash and maple also grow .
