Herbert Blume

Herbert Blume (born June 24, 1938 in Fallersleben ) is a German philologist and Germanist .

Life

In 1958, Blume completed his school education in Wolfenbüttel with a high school diploma. From 1958 to 1967 he studied German, Scandinavian , Romance studies and comparative linguistics at the universities of Göttingen , Freiburg and Gießen . He passed the first state examination in 1965 in Göttingen. In 1967 he was in Giessen with a dissertation on the morphology of Zesen neologisms Dr. phil. PhD . The 2nd state examination followed in Braunschweig in 1969. He then worked (since 1972 as an academic senior counselor ) at the seminar for German language and literature at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

In 2000 he received an honorary doctorate from Stockholm University for his research in the field of Swedish-German literature since the 17th century and Scandinavian-German language relations, as well as for his services to student and lecturer exchanges .

Blume regularly publishes works on the Low German language and literature, in particular on names of waters, places and streets in the Braunschweig area.
