Herbert Douteil

Herbert Douteil CSSp (born August 24, 1935 in Grefrath ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and priest .

Life

From 1955 to 1956 he completed the novitiate in Heimbach . From 1956 to 1962 he studied philosophy and theology at the Spiritaner Order College in Knechtsteden . After being ordained a priest in 1961, he studied at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn from 1962 to 1969 . After completing his doctorate in musicology in Cologne in 1969, he worked from 1970 to 1979 as a pastoral and academic in Cologne. Since 1979 he has been a missionary in the prelature Alto Juruá (now the Diocese of Cruzeiro do Sul ) among indigenous people, rubber tailors and settlers, training catechists, building up and expanding the health care system. From 1980 to 1993 he led the Small and Large Seminary of the Spiritans in Cruzeiro do Sul . From 1994 to 2002 he taught as a professor of philosophy, anthropology and exegesis at the Major Seminary of the Diocese of Cruzeiro do Sul. From 2005 to 2010 he was Vicar General of the Diocese of Cruzeiro do Sul.
