Herbert Finne

Herbert Finne (born September 17, 1919 in Lemgo ; † May 28, 1999 in Detmold ) was a German musician .

Life

After graduating from high school in Lemgo and the subsequent labor service, Finne had a first engagement at the city theater in Meißen . From 1940 to 1942 he studied at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Berlin with Hugo Distler, among others . After his military service and brief imprisonment, Finne continued his studies at the newly founded Music Academy in Detmold with Kurt Thomas and Hugo Balzer.

From 1949 to 1985 he worked at the Landestheater Detmold, initially as a choir director, then as a solo coach and finally as first  conductor and music director.
