Herbert Fischer (doctor)

Herbert Fischer (born February 26, 1919 in Brettheim ; † 2013 ) was a German physician and professor of phlebology and clinical dermatology .

After studying medicine in Berlin in 1943, Fischer received his doctorate and completed his habilitation in 1961 at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . First he was then senior physician in the dermatological department under the direction of Wilhelm Schneider at the University Dermatology Clinic in Tübingen . In 1966 he became director of his own department for phlebology there, and in the following year he was appointed an adjunct professor.

From 1986 to 1991 Fischer was President of the German Society for Phlebology , of which he was also appointed Honorary President. He wrote articles on dermatology in the "Reallexikon der Medizin und their Grenzgebiete" (1966–1974) and from 1972 was co-editor of the journal "Phlebologie und Proktologie". His son was the ancient historian and numismatist Thomas Fischer .
