Herbert Freeden
Herbert Freeden (actually: Herbert H. Friedenthal ; born January 22, 1909 in Posen , † November 13, 2003 in Jerusalem ) was a German author and publicist .
Life
Herbert Friedenthal studied law in Göttingen, Berlin, Munich and Leipzig from 1927 to 1935. He completed his studies with a PhD. phil. from. During his studies he worked as a journalist in Berlin, where in 1933 he also took over the management of the cultural department of the Zionist Association for Germany . In June 1939 Friedenthal emigrated to England; in London he changed his last name to Freeden. From September 1950 he lived in Jerusalem and worked there for the National Jewish Foundation, as he had before in England. In addition to his work as a correspondent for numerous magazines worldwide, including the German Frankfurter Rundschau , he published various works on contemporary history. On April 10, 1974, he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class.
