Herbert Hauswald

Herbert Hauswald (born March 14, 1912 in Sebnitz , † in the 20th century in Chemnitz ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

As an amateur , he started for the well-known Wanderer Chemnitz club after moving from his hometown of Sebnitz to Chemnitz. In 1932 he won the Great Saxony Prize in the B-Class and thus had his first major success. In 1933 he then won the race in the A-class of the German amateurs by a large margin. After good placements in German road races , Hauswald was appointed to the German team for the Tour de France in 1937 . He finished the tour as 43rd. He was an important helper for the best German driver Erich Bautz . Hauswald himself was able to place himself among the ten best drivers on four stages. In 1938 he started again and was classified 52nd in Paris. After the Second World War he got his license as a professional driver again . In 1948 he was able to come second in the Rund um Berlin race behind Heinrich Schultenjohann .

Professional

He worked for several years as a cycling trainer at SC Karl-Marx-Stadt , where he trained Rudolf Franz , among others .
