Herbert Heinrich (born April 15, 1958 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey player . During his career he played in the 1st ice hockey Bundesliga at SC Riessersee and in the 2nd Bundesliga on the position of defender for Deggendorfer SC and ESG Kassel .

Career

Heinrich began his career as a professional player in the 1977/78 season at SC Riessersee and became German champion that same year . Heinrich was one of the top performers in the championship team. After another season at SC Riessersee Heinrich moved to the 1979/80 season for the then second division club Deggendorfer SC , for which he played 100 games in two seasons. For the 1983/84 season he moved to ESG Kassel , which this year competed in the second highest division for the first time in its club's history. He was active in sports in Kassel until 1987 and ended his career there after four years. For Kassel he managed 177 games and developed into an important personality in the club.

The shirt number # 5 that Heinrich wore is no longer given to other players in Kassel and hangs under the stadium roof of the Kassel ice rink . When Heinrich's son, the winger Alexander Heinrich, played for the Kassel Huskies in the German Ice Hockey League in the 2004/05 season, he was the first to wear the jersey number 5, which was blocked for his father.

His sons Alexander and Stefan are also professional ice hockey players and work for today's Kassel Huskies .
