Herbert Jüttemann
Herbert Jüttemann (born January 21, 1930 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German engineer and technology historian, mill researcher and specialist in historical mechanical works.
Life
After studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Aachen, he moved to Karlsruhe and discovered his interest in the technical side of folklore . In 1982 he received his doctorate. Ing. At the Technical University of Karlsruhe with a thesis on water- powered sawmills in the Black Forest before 1850 .
He also dealt intensively with the clocks , rotating and fair organs made in the Black Forest , with orchestrations and phono devices and the industries that grew out of them . He published numerous books and articles about his research, some of which were groundbreaking. He is an important researcher in the field of mechanical musical instruments as well as historical mills, whose expertise is highly valued by the preservation of monuments, museums and collectors.
Awards
- In 1999 Jüttemann received the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit .
- In 2000 Jüttemann received the Quirin David Bowers Literary Award for outstanding literary achievements in the field of automatic music.
- In 2007 Jüttemann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
