Herbert Klauser

Herbert Othmar Klauser (born February 10, 1916 in Hollabrunn , Lower Austria ; † May 6, 2009 ) was an Austrian writer.

Life

Herbert Klauser attended the humanistic grammar school in Hollabrunn and graduated in 1934 and studied German and English at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1939. phil. From 1939 he did military service in the German armed forces and from 1940 studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna and graduated as a business graduate. In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets. Back in Vienna he taught at a grammar school and taught German in Leicester in England in 1947/1948. This was followed by teaching activities at various universities in the USA and guest lectures at Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Croatian and Polish universities. Klauser was buried at the Ottakringer Friedhof in Vienna.
