Herbert Kolb (physician)

Herbert Kolb (born February 15, 1922 ; † August 13, 2009 in Stuttgart ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

From 1940 Kolb studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . During this time he became a member of the Comradeship Ostland . The study was interrupted by the entry into the armed forces and prisoner of war. In July 1951 he was with the dissertation recurrent damage to Strumektomien to Dr. med. PhD .

After working at the Robert Bosch Hospital , Kolb came to the Katharinenhospital in 1955 . In 1957 he was appointed head of the blood center by the Stuttgart city council. The transfusion medicine was of piston by numerous new developments and patents significantly affected. He brought his experience to the DIN standards committee and the guidelines commission for the blood donation of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition to his extensive work as Medical Director of the Blood Center, Herbert Kolb was the permanent representative of the First Medical Director of the Katharinen Hospital and a deputy member of the hospital management board. He was also the medical director of the institute for technical assistants in medicine at the Katharinenhospital and a lecturer at the Institute for Biomedical Technology at the University of Stuttgart .

When Kolb retired in 1987, he continued to maintain close contact with the medical directors of the clinic and took part in its development.
