Herbert Schneiders (born June 2, 1953 in Urschmitt ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the state parliament from the Vulkaneifel in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1973, Schneiders completed a degree in administration at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Mayen. He then studied law in Saarbrücken and Mainz and passed his second state examination in 1984. After that he was head of department in the Altenkirchen district until 1986 and in the Daun district until 1989 . He then worked for a year as a research assistant in the CDU parliamentary group and until 1991 government director at the Koblenz district government . Since his retirement as a professional politician, Schneiders has worked as an established lawyer .

politics

In 1971 Schneiders joined the CDU. From 1990 to 2006 he was district chairman of the CDU Daun. In 1994 he became a member of the district assembly of the Daun district, where he was parliamentary group chairman from 1996 to 2013, with an interruption in 2006. In the period from 1991 until the end of the legislative period of the 16th Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in 2016, he represented the constituency 20 Vulkaneifel - formerly Daun - as a member of parliament and has been chairman of the legal committee there since 1996. He was an honorary member of the district association of the German Red Cross and, from 1995 onwards, also at state and district level - among other things as legal advisor . He was also a member of the organs of what was then Kreissparkasse Daun - for example as a member of the board of directors. He also ran the local Rotary club . In the course of the failed merger efforts of the financial institute from Daun and the irregularities surrounding the Sparkasse director Grau, Schneiders was at times subject to public criticism.
