Herbert Stoyan

Herbert Stoyan (* 1943 in Waldheim ) is a German computer scientist. Until 2008 he was a professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . Stoyan deals with methods and problems of artificial intelligence ( Lisp programming) as well as knowledge management .

Stoyan received his PhD in 1970 at the Technical University of Dresden with a topic on philosophical problems of probability theory. rer. nat. PhD. From 1974 to 1980 he was an assistant there. In 1981 he came to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where he completed his habilitation in 1984. In 1986 he received a professorship at the University of Konstanz . In 1989/90 he was temporarily at the TH Darmstadt until he was offered a position in Erlangen.

His brother Gisbert Stoyan is a professor of mathematics (formerly the Academy of Sciences of the GDR, later Budapest), and his brother Dietrich Stoyan is professor of stochastics at the Bergakademie Freiberg. His son Ronald Stoyan has a publishing house for astronomical literature (Oculum).

Stoyan also deals with the genealogy of the nobility and published a CD (Adel-digital).
