Herbert Tieber
Herbert Tieber (born November 12, 1942 in Graz , † January 14, 1990 in Vienna ) was an Austrian local and economic politician of the SPÖ .
A native of Styria grew up in Tirol on, graduated from the Commercial College (Matura 1960) and completed his studies in economics at the University of Innsbruck in 1964 awarded the degree graduate in economics. Professionally, Tieber worked in the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Tyrol, as managing director of the Association for Consumer Information , Tyrol State Office, as State Party Secretary-Deputy of the SPÖ Tyrol 1971-1974 and as State Party Secretary of the SPÖ Tyrol 1974. He also worked as a secretary in the office of Federal Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry (1976), as press officer for the state capital Bregenz (1978), secretary of the local political department in the central secretariat of the SPÖ (1979), and most recently for several years as managing director of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Österreichischen Gemeinwirtschaft. Tieber was a member of the town council of Hall in Tirol from 1968 to 1969 and a member of the National Council from June 1, 1983 to December 16, 1986 (16th legislative period). In the 1980s, he led the program discussion within the SPÖ Perspektiven 90 .
Tieber was for a time one of the great political hopes of the SPÖ. He only died at the age of 48 in 1990.
His son Claus Tieber is a film scholar, his son Thomas Tieber is a musician with the band Ecliptica .
