Montopoli di Sabina is an Italian municipality with 4160 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rieti in the Lazio region .
geography
Montopoli is located 51 km north of Rome and 39 km southwest of Rieti .
The municipality is bounded by the Tiber and Farfa rivers to the west and south . To the northeast it extends into the hilly landscape of the Sabine Mountains . The community extends over an altitude difference of 26 to 680 m slm
The municipality includes the districts Bocchignano, Casenove, Colonnetta La Memoria, Ferruti, Granari, Granica di Montopoli, Ponte Sfondato, Ponticchio and Santa Maria.
The community is located in earthquake zone 2 (medium risk).
The neighboring municipalities are Castelnuovo di Farfa , Fara in Sabina , Fiano Romano ( RM ), Montelibretti (RM), Nazzano (RM), Poggio Mirteto , Salisano and Torrita Tiberina (RM).
