Forano is an Italian city ​​with 3196 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rieti in the Lazio region .

geography

Forano is 57 km north of Rome , 46 km southwest of Rieti and 55 km east of Viterbo . It is located in the Sabine Mountains above the Tiber Valley . The municipality extends from the Tiber to the hills of the Sabina with the highest point at 251 m slm

The community is located in earthquake zone 2 (medium risk).

The districts Galantina, Gavignano, San Pietro and Santa Lucia belong to the municipality.

The neighboring municipalities are Cantalupo in Sabina , Filacciano ( RM ), Poggio Catino , Poggio Mirteto , Ponzano Romano (RM), Selci , Stimigliano and Tarano .
