Pescorocchiano is a municipality with 1976 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio .

geography

Pescorocchiano is 90 km northeast of Rome and 48 km southeast of Rieti . It is located in the upper valley of the Salto , the so-called Cicolano . It is a member of the Comunità Montana Salto Cicolano .

The municipal area extends over an altitude difference of 535 to 1,624 meters above sea level. The municipality includes the districts of Baccarecce, Castagneta, Civitella di Nesce, Colle di Pace, Girgenti, Granara, Leofreni, Nesce, Pace, Petrignano, Poggio San Giovanni, Roccarandisi, Santa Lucia di Gioverotondo, Sant'Elpidio, Torre di Taglio and Val de 'Varri.

The community is located in earthquake zone 1 (highly endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are Borgorose , Carsoli ( AQ ), Collalto Sabino , Fiamignano , Marcetelli , Petrella Salto , Sante Marie (AQ), Tornimparte (AQ) and Varco Sabino .
