The Salto is a river in central Italy , in the regions of Abruzzo and Lazio . It is a left tributary of the Velino , into which it flows at Rieti .

It rises in the Conca d ' Avezzano in the municipality of Scurcola Marsicana and is 55 km long. It flows through the Cicolano landscape .

In 1940 the river was dammed at Petrella Salto , creating the Lago del Salto .
