Herbord de Bar (* 1533 ; † September 17, 1597 ) was a Protestant canon in Münster and cathedral dean in Osnabrück .

Life

Herbord de Bar came from the Lower Saxon noble family de Bar and was the son of Brand de Bar († 1554) and his wife Adelheid von Lutten. In 1559 he received a cathedral praise from Münster and was emancipated the following year . Herbord was also canon in Osnabrück , where he was later elected cathedral dean . In the election of the Münster bishop in 1574, which was associated with considerable turbulence, he played a special role together with the canon and later Bishop of Osnabrück Wilhelm von Schencking .
