Heribert Blens

Heribert Blens (born February 19, 1936 in Cologne ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and holds a doctorate in law . After working at the administrative courts in Cologne and Düsseldorf , he was a member of the German Bundestag from 1983 to 2002 .

Life

After primary school, Blens switched to high school in 1947, which he left with the Abitur in 1956. By 1960 he completed a law degree at the University of Cologne , in 1960 he passed his legal traineeship exam , four years later his assessor exam . He then did a second degree in political science and economics . From 1966 to 1967 he was a consultant at the Federal Ministry of Labor and in 1967 he became a judge at the Cologne Administrative Court . In 1974 he worked for a year in the Federal Ministry of the Interior , after which he went to the Düsseldorf Administrative Court to accept a position as presiding judge. When he moved into the Bundestag in 1983, he resigned as a judge.

politics

Blens became a member of the CDU as early as 1955, and from 1969 to 1987 he was a member of the Cologne City Council . He was also one of the mayors of Cologne from 1975 to 1987 . In the federal elections from 1983 to 1994, Blens was elected directly to the Bundestag in the Cologne II constituency. In 1998 he moved into parliament via the state list of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia , of which he was a member until 2002. Since 1990 Blens was chairman of the mediation committee .

Blens is an honorary member of the Catholic Student Union Unitas-Wroclaw in Cologne in the KV .
