Hermética (es. ' Hermetic ') was an Argentine thrash metal band from Buenos Aires that was formed in 1987 and separated again in 1994. Together with Lethal and Horcas, they are one of the most important Argentine metal bands.

history

The band was formed by bassist and vocalist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band V8 broke up. A short time later, guitarist Antonio Romano, drummer Fabián Spataro and singer Claudio O'Connor joined the band. The band had their first appearance in May 1988 in a club in San Martin . Their self-titled debut album followed in 1989. A cover EP called Intérpretes was released in 1990. The next album called Acido Argentino followed in 1991, on which Claudio Strunz was a new drummer. In 1992 the band played as the inaugural band for Black Sabbath at the Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires.

Several live releases appeared in the following years. In the meantime, Iorio started a small side project. It was not until 1994 that another studio album was released with Víctimas Del Vaciamiento . In the same year the band played on the Monsters of Rock with Slayer , Black Sabbath and Kiss . Due to disputes in the band, this disintegrated that same year. From the breakup of the band some more bands like Malón and Almafuerte were formed .

In 2002 a tribute CD called Homenaje was released. On this one could hear artists like Tren Loco , Renacer , Carina Alfie , Kybalion , as well as some smaller bands.

Music genre

Hermética's style of music combines Thrash, Speed and Power Metal elements and is more melodic than that of Lethal and Horcas. Her first two works contain heavier, more aggressive material and are her most popular releases. The newer recordings incorporate more melodic, classic heavy metal elements.
