Herman van der Wijck
Herman Constantijn Jonkheer van der Wijck (born April 12, 1815 in The Hague ; † April 11, 1889 ibid) was a Dutch colonial official.
Life
Hermann van der Wijck was born the son of the Dutch general, landscape painter and writer Harmen Jan van der Wijck . He studied philosophy at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1833 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bonn . In 1836 he joined the Corps Hanseatia Heidelberg. After graduating, he entered the colonial administration service of the Netherlands and became a member of the government of the Dutch East Indies and governor of Batavia .
Van der Wijck died in The Hague. His son was Carel Herman Aart van der Wijck , Governor General and Viceroy of the Dutch East Indies.
