Jonkheer Carel Herman Aart van der Wijck (born March 29, 1840 in Amboina ( Dutch East Indies ), † July 8, 1914 in Baarn ) was a Dutch politician.

Carel Herman Aart van der Wijck was born the son of the year . Mr. Herman Constantijn van der Wijck , member of the Raad van Indië and the Marianne Susanna Lucia de Kock van Leeuwen. His grandfather was the Mannheim- based General Harmen Jan van der Wijck (1769–1847).

Carel Herman Aart had three brothers who were also active in politics; Year Herman Marinus van der Wijck was Minister of the Navy, Jhr. Herman van der Wijck was councilor of the Dutch East Indies and Jhr. Otto van der Wijck was Vice President of the Council of the Dutch East Indies. Carel Herman Aart van der Wijck's daughter Jkvr. Caroline Angelique married the later Governor General Andries Cornelis Dirk de Graeff .

Carel Herman Aart van der Wijck was prepared for an administrative career in the Dutch East Indies. In 1888 he became a member and vice-president of the Council of the Dutch East Indies. In 1893 Van der Wijck became Governor General of the Dutch East Indies. In his first year as viceroy, a military conflict took place in Lombok , and the Dutch position was restored. During his tenure, Van der Wijk hired the later Governor General Joannes Benedictus van Heutsz as Governor of Aceh .

After returning to the Netherlands in 1899, he was a Liberal Senator in the First Chamber of the States General .
