Abraham van Riebeeck

Abraham van Riebeeck (born October 18, 1653 in the Cape Colony , today's South Africa , † November 17, 1713 ) was Governor General of the Dutch East Indies from 1709 until his death in 1713 . He was also an explorer who ran several smaller and larger travel businesses in the east Indian islands.

After completing his studies in 1676, he joined the Dutch East India Company as a merchant .

One of his children was Johanna Maria van Riebeeck (1679–1759), who married his predecessor Joan van Hoorn .
