Hermann-Josef Bunte

Hermann-Josef Bunte (born December 22, 1941 in Papenburg ) is a German legal scholar and art collector.

Professional background

Colorful was in 1974 at the University of Bielefeld with a thesis on "information rights in the GmbH and the GmbH Group" Dr. iur. PhD. From 1969 to 1986 he taught at Bielefeld University. From 1978 he was a professor at the Hagen University of Applied Sciences . In 1985 he accepted a position at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg , where he held a professorship for civil law, commercial law, corporate law and business law until his retirement in 2001. In addition, Bunte was also a judge at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg . Bunte has been Of Counsel of the German antitrust group of Allen & Overy since 2004 .

The main focus of his practice lies in the area of commercial law , in particular antitrust and banking law .

Art collection

The "Hermann-Josef Bunte Collection" with 400 works by 40 German artists of the 20th century is well known . At first, Bunte concentrated on purchasing mainly Westphalian artists during his time in Bielefeld. With his work in Hamburg, the additional focus arose on the Hamburg Secession . For the Hamburg Secession alone, the collection contains around 160 works.

In 2015 it became known that the Buntes art collection, which includes 450 works by Hermann Stenner , will be on permanent loan from 2016 in the Hermann Stenner Museum in Bielefeld's Villa Weber.
