Hermann Able

Hermann Able (* 7. February 1930 in Heilbronn , † 21st June 2013 ) was an as Weinpoet known German tenants and poet . He wrote numerous poems , especially on the subject of wine , which appeared in newspapers, among other things, and were collected in several volumes.

Life

Able came from an old Heilbronn vineyard family that has been based in Heilbronn since 1456. When he was nine years old, his father died, so that his mother ran the family and their viticulture without a husband through the war.

From 1940 to 1944 Hermann Able attended the Heilbronn boys' middle school, first on the avenue , from 1942 in the Dammschule building . After the end of the Second World War he had to help out in the vineyards and finally took over the business, which he and his wife Margret, born in 1956, married. Rechkemmer, managed. The marriage resulted in four children, including their son Martin, who took over the Able winery.

Hermann Able began to poetry as a child. In 1939 the daily Heilbronner Tagblatt published a poem Ables on its children's page for the first time, which dealt with a local topic with the hunter's house . In the post-war period he was active in the rural youth winegrowing group and in the Heilbronn men's choir Urbanus with its conductor Robert Edler , where he recited poems at events. Edler later set two poems by Ables to music and asked him to write the texts for a cantata entitled Nature and Man .

In the decades following the war, Able concentrated on family and business and only wrote poems occasionally, but they were published again and again. Only after the business was handed over to his son did he write more, in addition to poems, stories, factual texts and sayings on the subject of wine, which wine queens and wine-growing officials like to quote on appropriate occasions . The best known was his poem Rebenblüte , which was printed in numerous newspapers and specialist magazines and also circulated as a postcard . Able wrote a vintage poem for each vintage from 1976 onwards . From 1987 he also organized literary wine colleges , which combined a wine tasting with literary topics and from 1999 onwards mostly took place in the wine villa .

Awards

Able received the Golden Badge of Honor in 1981 and the Cup of Honor from the Württemberg winegrowing association in 2004. In 2012 he received the state medal in silver from the state of Baden-Württemberg. He also received the Golden Mint of the City of Heilbronn on March 27, 1996 from Mayor Manfred Weinmann .
