Manfred Weinmann (born July 17, 1934 in Neckargartach ; † June 5, 2013 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of Heilbronn from 1983 to 1999 .

Life

After the Second World War, Weinmann completed an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman . In 1956 he made up his Abitur and studied economics . In 1957 he joined the CDU. From 1964 to 1976 he was employed in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics . In 1966 he graduated as Dr. rer. pole. and in the same year became a member of the Heilbronn municipal council, where he later became chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In 1976 he was elected First Mayor. On September 9, 1983, he was elected Lord Mayor of Heilbronn in the first ballot with 51.9% as successor to Hans Hoffmann .

Weinmann's son Nico Weinmann (* 1972) has been a city councilor in Heilbronn since 2000 and won a second mandate for the FDP in the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 in the state constituency of Heilbronn .

Awards

Manfred Weinmann received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1989 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1999. For his services to the Young European Federalists and the Europa-Union Heilbronn, Weinmann was made an honorary member of the Heilbronner Kreisverband der Europa-Union Deutschland in 2007. On July 17th, 2009 the city of Heilbronn made Weinmann an honorary citizen . Years before, he had already become an honorary citizen of Heilbronn's twin cities, Béziers and Stockport .
