Lebrecht Landauer (born September 23, 1779 in Stuttgart , † March 25, 1822 in Heilbronn ) was Lord Mayor of Heilbronn from 1819 to 1822 .

Life

Lebrecht Landauer was born in Stuttgart on September 23, 1779. He did his doctorate in law and after graduating he settled as a lawyer at the Royal Court in Stuttgart. In 1804 he reported to Heilbronn (which had become part of Württemberg in 1803), where he was admitted as an Oberlandes government advocate .

Landauer (like his predecessor Georg Christian Franz Kübel ) was not elected to the mayor's office but was proposed by the supervisory authority. When his appointment as mayor was imminent, he was elected to the Heilbronn city council and acquired Heilbronn citizenship. Since July 13, 1819 he was Lord Mayor of Heilbronn. In August of the same year he was confirmed by the King with the title of Lord Mayor and on August 22nd he was committed to his office. He chaired his first meeting on August 26, 1819. Landauer's term of office included, in particular, the further dismantling of the fortifications, the demolition of the Fleinertor tower and the completion of the Wilhelm Canal and port, the construction of which had begun in March 1819. The number of inhabitants of the city changed only insignificantly during his tenure. He held the office until his death in 1822. His successor was the city schoolmaster Johann Clemens Bruckmann , who took over the guardianship of his underage children after his death.

family

Landauer married Auguste Friederike Elisabeth Landauer, born on September 23, 1805 in Stuttgart . Perrotin (born September 9, 1782 in Stuttgart, † January 31, 1857 Stuttgart). She was the daughter of the French Perrotin, who worked as head chef at the ducal court in Stuttgart. His daughter grew up bilingual in the cultural environment of the farm. The marriage of Lebrecht and Auguste Landauer produced five sons (see descendants ), one of whom died shortly after birth.

Lebrecht Landauer died on March 25th, 1822 at the age of 42 of a protracted abdominal disease. After his death, Auguste Landauer ran an “educational institution for girls” for a few years. She later moved to Neckarsulm with her eldest son , then she worked as a teacher in Cannstatt and finally moved to her brother in Stuttgart, who enabled her to live a carefree life. The brother died around 1842 and bequeathed his fortune to her. In 1857 Auguste Landauer died after a brief illness on January 31, 1857 at the age of 74 in Stuttgart.
