Hermann Arnold (born January 1, 1888 in Schorndorf ; † June 7, 1973 there ) was a German brick manufacturer .

Career

Arnold was born on New Year's Day in 1888 in the brickworks in the small town of Schorndorf in Württemberg. He spent his school days in Schorndorf and Korntal . He then completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and carpenter in the construction business of Schorndorf's town builder Gottlieb Maier, the father of the later Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Reinhold Maier . A particularly friendly relationship with Reinhold Maier stems from this time. With the best certificates he came to the Royal Building Trade School in Stuttgart, which he completed with the master's examination.

In the following years he worked as a master builder in Schorndorf and Stuttgart. On behalf of his former teacher, he managed the new building of the Schorndorf brickworks in 1907/08 . When his father and uncle died in quick succession in 1911, he took over the technical management of the brickworks from his uncle, who was co-owner of the company. He began to rationalize the production processes and, especially after the First World War, helped the company to an enormous economic boom, so that the plant soon became one of the most efficient manufacturers of roof tiles in southern Germany. At the end of 1951 he withdrew from operational business.
