Hermann Bourier

Hermann Bourier OSB (born June 7, 1871 in Augsburg , † December 15, 1949 there ) was a German Benedictine.

Life

The son of Joseph and Anna Bourier attended high school near St. Stephan in Augsburg from 1881 to 1890 . In 1891 he entered the monastery of St. Stephen . From 1892 to 1897 he studied Catholic theology and classical philology at the University of Munich . After ordination on June 30, 1895 and his doctorate in 1898 as Dr. phil. in Munich with the dissertation on the sources of the first fourteen books by Johannes Malalas (with the Byzantinist Karl Krumbacher ) he taught from 1898 to 1907 at the high school near St. Stephan. From 1907 to 1929 he worked temporarily in the Schäftlarn monastery (as novice master and prior ) and at the Schäftlarn grammar school (as head of the grammar school and boarding school). From 1929 to 1939 he taught again at the high school near St. Stephan. In the Abbey of St. Stephen he was subprior from 1929 to 1947, archivist of the abbey from 1929 to 1949 and also a chronicler from 1930 to 1949. In the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation he was a calendarist from 1897 and from 1922 to 1949 secretary to the president.
