Hermann Christian Tobias Krogmann

Hermann Christian Tobias Krogmann (born April 8, 1797 in Hamburg ; † January 27, 1866 in Meran ) was a Hamburg merchant.

Life

Hermann Christian Tobias Krogmann was born in Hamburg as the son of the timber merchant Hermann Hinrich Friedrich Krogmann. After his father's death, his mother continued to run the business until it was destroyed by fire during the siege of Hamburg in 1814 . The mother died and Krogmann was completely destitute.

After a military service in 1815 and working as a shopkeeper brokers he became clerk in the grocery store and grocer JC Wachsmuth in Hamburg's Stone Street . He married a sister of the owner and became a partner. After Wachsmuth's death, his younger brother Carl Ludolph Otto Wachsmuth continued the company together with Krogmann. In 1840 they changed the company name to Wachsmuth & Krogmann. In 1847 Krogmann took over the company completely and in 1859 his sons Carl Johann and Hermann August joined the company.

Krogmann was a member of the Hamburg parliament from 1859 to 1865 .

  • Member of the Commerce Deputation from 1846 to March 1848
  • In 1847 delegated from the Commerce Deputation to the Customs and Accession Deputation
  • In 1848 delegated from the Commerce Deputation to the Shipping and Port Deputation
  • 1846 to 1848 member of the brokerage regulations
  • 1860 to 1863 member of the city water art deputation
