Hermann August Krogmann

Hermann August Krogmann (born August 3, 1826 in Hamburg ; † October 14, 1894 there ) was a German businessman and politician.

Life

Krogmann was a businessman in the company Wachsmuth & Krogmann . In 1859 he worked as a commercial judge. From 1864 to 1865 Krogmann belonged to the Hamburg citizenship . In addition, he was a member of the Geographical Society in Hamburg and in this function helped finance Eduard Dallmann's Antarctic voyage between 1873 and 1874 . As a thank you, Dallmann named Krogmann Island after him. In 1959 the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the western extension of this island after him, which has since been known as Krogmann Point .

Krogmann had been married to Emma Beinhauer since July 15, 1856 . Otto Wilhelm Krogmann and Richard Carl Krogmann were his sons. Carl Vincent Krogmann and Werner Krogmann were his grandchildren.
