Hermann Drück (born May 21, 1856 in Vaihingen an der Enz , † March 24, 1931 in Neckartailfingen ) was a German painter . He is one of the Swabian Impressionists .

Life

He was born on May 21, 1856 as the son of Julius Drück, Vaihinger Schultheiss, and his wife Anna Maria Kocher. He first learned the trade of a businessman and from 1875 attended the Stuttgart art school for four years with various teachers. His artistic path took him via the Polling artists' colony on the Ammersee to Dachau , where he was strongly influenced by the Neu-Dachau School of Adolf Hölzel and Ludwig Dill . During this time Hermann Drück decided to paint in nature. In 1899 he came into closer contact with Neckartailfingen, where he lived and lived from 1903. At first he lived in Schwanen and in 1904 he moved into the Villa Drück directly on the Neckar.

Hermann Drück was already an esteemed artist at this time and belonged to the group of the most famous Württemberg landscape painters such as Karl Schickhardt and - in 1913 - to the illustrious circle of art judges of the Württemberg Art Association . In 1904/05 he was a member of the committee of the Stuttgart Art Cooperative. Later on, Drück also turned to history and genre painting. On March 24, 1931, Hermann Drück died shortly before he turned 75. His home parish dedicated a commemorative exhibition of 74 works to him in the wine press for the 900th parish anniversary in 1990, in particular from parish and private collections.
