Hermann Gerstmayer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Gerstmayer ( pseudonyms : Ralph Doyan , Leo Harald , Hermann Lienhart , Freddy Weller; born October 16, 1886 in Koblenz , † May 25, 1961 in Berlin ) was a German writer .

Life

Hermann Gerstmayer lived in Stuttgart , later in Berlin . From 1911 he published exotic adventure novels in addition to a volume of poetry . During the First World War he wrote a series of reports on the fighting of German units for the patriotic series "With flying flags". From 1919 onwards Gerstmayer's novels appeared , the plot of which is set in exotic locations such as Borneo , Sumatra and Madagascar . From the end of the 1920s , Gerstmayer's extremely extensive oeuvre consisted mainly of women’s and homeland novels , most of which appeared as loan books or in notebooks . In addition, in the early years of the Third Reich , he published a number of stories loyal to the regime and published the series "Die Fahne hoch" and "Jugend vor". Some titles from this period, such as B. "Baltic Fighters!" and "SA man Peter Müller", were on the " list of literature to be segregated " after 1945 in the Soviet occupation zone and the early GDR . With his two sons he founded the Gerstmayer OHG in 1949/50, first in Alexandrinenstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg, then in a villa in Berlin-Dahlem and achieved with the production of the 30-pfennig booklet "Jack Morlan - the master detective" wrote under the pseudonym Feddy Weller, at times great economic success. By 1950/51, however, the boom in penny magazines was over and after the Morlan series was discontinued, the fan community wrote a few issues.
