Hermann Heil

Hermann Heil (born January 12, 1935 in Tondern , Nordschleswig , Denmark ; † October 16, 2018 in Ries , Nordschleswig, Denmark) was chief executive of the Bund Deutscher Nordschleswiger, the umbrella organization of the German minority in Denmark , and chairman of the working group of German minorities of the federalists Union of European Ethnic Groups (FUEN).

Life and work

Hermann Heil passed the Abitur in 1954 at the Danish State School in Tondern (Danish Tønder ). After military service in the Danish Navy from 1954 to 1956 in Copenhagen, he studied business administration at the Copenhagen School of Commerce from 1956 to 1958 and was also employed in the private sector. From 1959 to 1961 he was a commercial clerk at the Danish general agent of a large German tire manufacturer in Copenhagen. From 1962 to 2002 he worked in the German General Secretariat of the Bund Deutscher Nordschleswiger, the main organization of the German minority in Denmark based in Aabenraa (Danish: Aabenraa ), initially as a consultant for economic issues, and from 1972 as managing director. From 1974 to 1989 he was a member of the North Schleswig District Council as a representative of the Schleswig Party, was a member of the Social Committee from 1974 to 1978 and was a member of the Economics Committee from 1978 to 1989. From 1964, Heil became involved in the Federal Union of European Ethnic Groups ( FUEN ) on a voluntary basis . From 1994 to 1999 Hermann Heil was chairman of the working group of German minorities in FUEN. This goes back to an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and was founded in 1991 in Budapest as an informal working group that unites all organizations that are part of FUEN and consider themselves to be associations of German minorities.
